According to the Mastiff Association of England, Telmplecomb Taurus. was a brindle dog, found wandering the streets after a blitz.At a meeting in 1946, of those interested in trying to save the mastiff, they found that there was just one bitch of breeding age left in the country. This was Sally of Coldblow, one of the only litter born during the war. There being at that time no other dog available, she was mated to Templecomb Taurus, a dog of whom it is impossible to say with certainty whether he was a mastiff or bullmastiff. His owner had been killed in the blitz and he had no papers. He was finally registered as a mastiff of Unknown parentage. He sired a litter of 17 of which only one survived. She was named Nythia. After a series of negotiations with owners in Canada, in the US, Counting Sally and Niythia, 15 breedable dogs remained. It is from all of these 15 dogs, that the mastiff of today descended.
